Your Trusty Photographers...and Some Pigs.

It's (usually) fun to stumble across behind-the-scenes photos that Adam takes of me during our weddings. Sometimes they're not appropriate and focus on certain...attributes, but I found one from Saturday's wedding that was blog-worthy. This was during the couple's first meeting.

I took one of Adam as well. Isn't he cute?

And the wedding took place on a beautiful farm. Just you wait for the real blog post about it. Among the guests:

A Tip

For all you photographers out there. Instead of using a fancy schmancy light meter, or depending on the light meter in your camera, you can use the free one attached to the end of your arm. Take a photo of your hand to test your lighting. It's quick and easy and works every time!

So there's your FREE tip for the day, and you didn't even have to come to ROOTS to get it. By the way, isn't my wedding ring pretty? Adam designed it. He's so smart.

And I'm really enjoying Imogen Heap's song "Hide and Seek." Check it out. It has Ginger and Avery's stamp of approval too. :)

Sample Album

It was like Christmas morning here at Gingeroot today. My brand new wedding sample album finally arrive. It was a painstakingly long process to design it, a painstakingly long process to choose what to put on the cover, and painstakingly difficult to wait the 2-4 weeks for its arrival. But now it's here and it was all worth it, because it's BEAUTIFUL. You know how most things don't live up to your expectations? This surpassed mine, for sure. I took some photos so you can get a taste of the awesomeness, but you should really come in to see it in person.

As you can see, I featured Chelsie and Adam's June wedding throughout the whole album. I know Chelsie will be thrilled to see photos of this, since I let her in on the secret a few weeks ago. There are lots of cover options (this is Brushed Champagne with a metal cameo strip), many sizes, and many possibilities. Now, to the photos.

I had their names printed on the spine to give the cover a more clean, simple look.

The cover cameo is printed on metal! It looks so cool.

Things Lindsey Says...

"I love flowers of death."

We Have Found Our Ginger(oot)

We have a new addition to our Gingeroot team! Please welcome Ginger! And yes, we know how ironic her name is. From now on, this is what you will be hearing when you call:

"Gingeroot Studios, this is Ginger."

Hahaha. We've already had many a laugh. Get over it. :)

Cortney had to go back to K-State this fall, so Ginger is our new Studio Manager, and has already showed us her amazingness. She's organized, knows about photography, and is just plain awesome. Some of you might recognize her...I took her maternity and newborn photos back in May. She's been a close friend of mine for awhile now, and I'm so excited to get to see her every day!

Another beautiful mini-face you might be seeing is Ginger's little girl, Avery. She'll be hanging out at the studio with us too! She's about 3 months old and SO cute. So cute.

So next time you call or stop by, be sure to say hi to Ginger and Avery!

Things Lindsey Says...

Gina: "Do we need to talk about tomorrow?"
Lindsey: "What."
Gina: "Do you have a plan of attack?"
Lindsey: "I'm going to attack her."

ROOTS is Back!

Back by popular demand! We are having another ROOTS Workshop for all you beginner photographers out there. This will be covering most of the same material as the first one, so if you took that one, then you'll need to wait for the more advanced ROOTS 2, which is still in the works.

It will be October 6th from 9am to 2pm. We've only got 10 spots to fill and you must have your own digital SLR camera. The cost will be $150.

We took all the complements and critiques very seriously from the first workshop. One small change we are making based on feedback will be the new critique section. Instead of diving into Photoshop, we will use the end of the workshop to critique your work from the day. We feel that Photoshop is a subject for Roots 2 and the more advanced photographers. We want you to learn how to use your camera and be comfortable and confident in your photography before you start relying on Photoshop to save your life.

HOW TO REGISTER: THERE ARE ONLY 10 SPOTS AVAILABLE!

  • Email Gina at gina@gingerootstudios.com and tell her you want a spot.
  • We will put you on the list.
  • We must recieve payment before your spot is guaranteed (cash/check/credit)
  • Bring/mail in the registration form
  • First come, first serve!

Jill + Eric

Jill is the kind of bride that seems more like a friend than a client. Too bad she's moving to Nebraska. And her mom Kim is the sweetest lady...she holds a special place in my heart. :) Jill married Eric on Saturday in the little town of Stafford. The church was perfect...a pretty dressing room, lots of fun natural light in the lobby, an interesting sanctuary. Way to go guys. Jill and Eric chose to see each other before the ceremony, so we went to a little bed and breakfast a few blocks from the church for pictures before the wedding. I loved it there! We need one of those in Wichita. After the ceremony, we headed to Hutchinson for the reception, but made a stop at Carey Park for some photos first, where the couple narrowly escaped getting drenched by rogue sprinklers.

Thanks for choosing me to document your day, Jill and Eric! Congrats, and have a great time on your honeymoon!

The rest of Jill and Eric's photos will be available online in 3-5 weeks. Please send me an email at gina@gingerootstudios.com to be notified when they're up.
