Off to Become a Mom!

Well folks, I'm officially outta here. My maternity leave begins this afternoon and I'm so excited! The baby could come at any time, but we scheduled an induction for a week from today (June 24th) in case he wants to stay put. (FYI...scheduling the induction was a hard decision - I'd prefer things happen on their own. But since he's so huge already according to the growth ultrasound, and since I have to shoot two weddings in July, we decided this was best!)

I'm sure I will post photos as soon as I'm able, so check back to see just how cute this little boy is and to find out his awesome name. :)

I will have email access while I'm gone, though replying may be another story. Please contact the studio if you have questions, orders, or anything else. 316.683.1900 or frontdesk@gingerootstudios.com

I'll resume working mid-August when school starts up, and I'll be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. We do have weddings scheduled in July and August, so there will be lots to catch you up on when I get back.

Probably the next time you hear from me, I'll be a mama. It's so surreal and exciting! Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers. Have a great summer.

Whoa...

Ever wondered what a 9 month pregnant lady shooting a wedding looks like? :) Thanks Justin.

Jenna & Brad { Wedding }

Saturday afternoon, Jenna and Brad were married at Westside Baptist in Hutchinson. Justin and I had the pleasure of shooting their wedding, and I haven't even waded through his photos yet, so this is a rare occurrence - a wedding blog post with only my photos! You probably won't even know the difference. :)

Jenna was a very laid back bride and we lucked out with the rain...it poured, but only during the ceremony (which was inside). Before the ceremony, we were able to go to Dillon Nature Center where we found an awesome field of wildflowers, and after the ceremony, we went downtown and got some great stuff with the help of the amazing cloud cover. The love between these two was so evident, as was their love for God, which was a huge part of their ceremony. It was the coolest thing. They also have amazing friends who gave some awesome toasts at the reception and danced in during their entrance.

This was our last wedding before I become a mama, and I couldn't have asked for a better couple to send me out in style. Congratulations Jenna and Brad - you're married!! :) Here's the sneak peek!

It was such a pleasure working with Jenna and her mom over the past months!

Top Secret

Friday afternoon, I photographed something that is so super secret, I can't even share the photos here. I'm going to try to remember to blog about it when I get back from maternity leave, so keep checking back...I just had to tease you all with that. :) Here are a couple photos from the afternoon that don't really give anything away.

AND, come back later today to see the blog post about our awesome wedding from this weekend. We battled the rain and won! :)

Three Years

My friend Audra called me up to go baby shopping today, and while we were out, she reminded me that today is her third anniversary with her hubby, Justin. Happy Anniversary Audra and Justin!

I'm blogging about this because Audra and Justin were also my very first wedding to shoot on my own! So as of today, I've been a wedding photographer for three years (not counting the two years before that when I was a second shooter at weddings). In honor of our collective three year anniversary, here are some photos from their big day.

I also need to mention that you all owe a big thanks to Audra (I do too!), because before she convinced me to photograph her wedding, I had sworn I wouldn't do weddings. Where would I be today without her?

THANKS AUDRA!

Things Lindsey Says...

Nicole & Cole { Wedding }

Nicole and Cole were married this past (super hot) Saturday at the beautiful East Heights United Methodist Church. Lindsey and I LOVED photographing this beautiful couple...they were so laid back and we had plenty of time for photos. After their ceremony, we headed over to Riverside Park where they endured each other's sweaty faces and kissed for the camera! Then we headed downtown for a few more photos and their reception at the Hotel at Old Town, which was perfect. And it was early enough in the day that we had some amazing light streaming in the windows, making our job easy. I love how their photos turned out, and I loved working with this couple. Congrats Nicole and Cole, have an absolutely fantastic time on your honeymoon cruise!

The rest of Nicole & Cole's photos will be available online in 3-5 weeks. Please send me an email at gina@gingerootstudios.com to be notified when they're up.

Jen & Michael { Engagements }

Meet the nicest couple EVER. Jen and Michael were such a fun couple to spend the afternoon with last Thursday. Turns out, we have a ton of mutual friends too! Small world. We battled the rain throughout our entire session, but we made it work and got some great photos! And since their wedding is in January (in Illinois....so sad I won't be photographing it!), maybe it'll snow on their wedding day. Then they'll have quite the story. :) Here are some of the faves from our rainy engagement session.
