Zook Albums

Finally! Our sample Zook Album has arrived. These are brand new in 2008 for Gina Dreher Photography. They have a leather cover and many options for you to choose from including cover color, cover image, page edging color, and name embossing. Here are some photos of our sample album, but be sure to schedule an appointment to come in and look at it if you'd like to see it up close!

One cool feature is that the album lays flat when it's opened. Also, there's barely any space in the "gutter" or seam between facing pages.

Each album comes with a protective felt cover (as pictured), as well as a nice black box to make for easy, safe storage.

As you can see, we have a plethora of different cover colors and types of leather.

Unfortunately, we are raising our Zook Album prices due to increasing costs. But to those of you who've already been quoted the less expensive prices, we will honor those for the first album you order. Call or email for the new pricing.

No-Frame Mounting

So I've recently had a question about what exactly the no-frame mounting listed on our price list is. It's just like l'image, if you know what that is, but here are some pictures of a photo I have in my office that is mounted this way.

It's a photo mounted on a wood backing with a black beveled edge. There is a protective coating over the whole thing to seal the photo to the backing in a seamless mount.

This side view shows you how thick the wood is - about 3/8 inch. This photo is a 4x6 if that helps you with the size bearings. The protective coating looks kind of speckled in this photo, but it gives it a nice, subtly textured finish.

And this is just an example of how I used it in my office as a photo tryptic.

Project: Give

Maybe you guys can help me come up with a better name for this, but that's all I got. And here's what it's about:

Starting in 2009, we're going to begin a program called (as of now, at least) Project: Give. The idea is that somewhere out there, deserving couples are trying to plan their dream wedding day, but due to their circumstances, they can't afford the all the things they need/want. To do our part, we'd like to offer one FREE wedding per year. We'll require that the couple or someone they know has to write us a letter or email describing the circumstances. We'll pick one couple to be the recipients of Project: Give. Since this is still in the beginning stages, I haven't figured out what exactly will be included, but I'll get back to you on that!

If you are or know a couple who would like to be nominated, send me an email at gina@ginadreherphotography.com. Thanks!

Chelsea

This afternoon was Chelsea's senior session, and boy was it cold! My camera almost died on us like 50 times, apparently it hates the cold as much as I do. Chelsea and I agreed that it's definitely time for spring! Anyway, she's a senior at Maize and is headed to KU in the fall. Here are the favorites!

Coming soon...

We will soon be offering slideshows, set to music, that you can purchase to keep as your own! I'm thinking of changing my blog format to accompany a slideshow for each wedding, and maybe other sessions as well. Check back here for updates on this!

Morris Family

This morning I went to the Morris' house to take photos of their newborn baby, Corban. He was born just last week! This family is related to the other Morris family I blogged about back in January. Corban's big brother Braxton was such a good sport, he kept flashing me his killer smile after promises of getting "sours" (some kind of sour candy). Here are my favorites from their session.

Headshots of ME

I've needed headshots for my website for awhile, and I've just been putting off having them taken. I've never had any done before - the ones of me that are on my website now were taken by my BFF Rachael with her point and shoot during her little sister's senior session. Not that they're bad - you did a great job Rachael! But, you know. :)

So today after church, Adam and I headed to the park. He's a great photographer, but has no experience posing, so I had to pose myself, and let me tell you - that's a hard thing to do! I had no idea how it looked and it was just awkward. I also realized (but I think I already knew this) that I don't like being on that end of the camera! Anyway, we got a few that I'm moderately happy with, so I'm posting them. Let me know which one's y'all like. I can't decide if I should put one of these on my website or if I should put one of Adam and I together since he's now my official second shooter at weddings. Any opinions would be appreciated!

We found this little guy along the way, so Adam snapped a photo. He didn't even have a closeup lens on, he was actually this close to the squirrel! They're so tame at the park, it's crazy.

Thanks so much for taking these hon, you did a grrrrreat job! ;)

Emily

This afternoon I photographed my second senior of the year. Emily is a senior at Sunrise, which is where a bunch of the kids from our church's youth group go. She was a trooper - the sunshine was deceiving today - it was cold! Emily's mom also came along, and the last one on here is of the two of them together. Here are my favorites!
