These photos just melt the mommy heart in me! Sweet little Brynnley is here and is perfect, with lots and lots of hair. It seems like just yesterday that we took Monica's maternity photos, and it was so cool to see them as a new family of 4. Here are some of my faves from our newborn and family session yesterday.

Kinda a cool thing...we used this scarf below in Monica's maternity photos to wrap around the baby, and now we used it to wrap the newborn!

I LOVE THIS FAMILY. We've been taking photos together for at least three years now and we also go to church together, so they've become great friends. And their kiddos are just so cute I could eat them up. Evin was totally rockin a punk rock black ballerina skirt last night that I wish they made in my size. The newest little girl Ella proved to be a runner, so she was quite the challenge to photograph, but her cuteness made up for it.

This is how most of our session went...they just wanted to play around and not follow directions. Just kidding. :)

This weekend was Kristin and Corey's awesome wedding. Corey and I go way back to high school when he was my friend Alissa's little brother (though I guess he still is). This couple was super fun...they went with the flow and were so happy all day! I totally loved their goofiness. They also both had amazing families that we fun to work with. Didn't hurt that they're pretty darn good looking too. Here are some highlights from their day!

Cari and Jeremy are long-time friends and clients of Gingeroot, and they're expecting their second baby...a little boy! We had a fantastic afternoon session yesterday, and the hands-down best part of the shoot was when Cari was posing for me, and little Corinne yelled "Mama, you're sexy!!"

Micah & Robert { Married }

What an amazing, amazing day. First off, this wedding was so beautiful. I wouldn't have done anything differently. Perfect location, perfect ceremony, perfect details, perfect love. Secondly, it's super fun to shoot a friend's wedding with so many attendees and family that I know! Micah and Robert's wedding was definitely one of my favorites, and despite the heat, I think we got some awesome photos. The ceremony and reception were held at Micah's parents house in the country outside of town and they had the perfect setup. It totally reminded me of the movie Father of the Bride. So fun! Both families were so excited about the marriage, and the part God plays in their lives. Micah was a laid back bride and even got a grass stain on her dress, but just went with it! I could go on and on about this wedding but I'll let the photos tell the story (for the most part...).

The photo on the right below is Micah and her three siblings and their cousin. Scott, the token male is probably a professional groomsman (though he was a bridesman in this wedding)...he was one of my hubby's attendants at our wedding!

The ceremony was held on the front lawn.

And the reception was near the house, poolside.

My hubby took a break from shooting to DJ with Scott. And the beautiful mother-of-the-bride, Kelle took a break to cool off in the pool.

Heather and Chris were a super fun couple to spend the evening with last night. This session almost didn't happen! We had to reschedule once due to rain and then our makeup session was scheduled for yesterday morning...right after we'd had a crazy night of rain, hail, and tornado warnings. Luckily, Emie made the judgment call to go ahead, and we had a beautiful morning. These two kiddos are some of the cutest you'll ever see, and they had bunches of fun at the park with their golf clubs, swings, and chasing geese! Here's a sneak peek.

Monica is having her second baby and it's a girl! She came to Lindsey back when she was pregnant the first time for maternity photos, and look how big Bennett is now. I love that she has documented her pregnancies so well...the photos will be so precious to look back at years down the road. We had some crazy humidity during the second part of our shoot last night, but I don't think the sweat showed up in the photos! Check out these cute cute people!

Amanda and Kevin's original session day was rained out due to looming storms and crazy wind. We had a much calmer day on Friday to take their photos, despite the humidity. These two were cracking me up during their session with their seemingly already old-married-couple-like antics. I loved it. Kevin wasn't too excited about taking these photos, but I don't think it was too bad for him...right Kevin? :) Here are my faves!

Paige & Kate { 1 Year }

Paige and Kate first came to us back in February when they were almost 7 months old. I helped Lindsey out a bit with their first shoot, and was excited to see them again and to be able to take their 1 year photos! These two cuties have grown up so much and have quite the little personalities. I was grateful that they look so different from each other because I was able to keep track of who was who! (And check out their adorable chairs...I want one for Sutton!)

Kelsi & Ryan { Married }

Kelsi and Ryan were married this past beautiful Saturday, and it was an amazing, love-filled wedding. These two were so excited to be married! I'm friends with them both, and in the days before their wedding, they were writing on each others' facebook walls about how they couldn't wait to become husband and wife. I feel so honored to be a part of something so special, and I hope the photos reflect that.

A little background...I met Ryan a couple years ago at church and we became friends through working in the youth group together. He moved away for a year, and meanwhile I started working at Gingeroot. Next door to us is a bridal store called I Do Bridal and Tux (you should all go there, it's great!), which is where Kelsi works, so that's how we met. When they started dating, it was such a cool thing to know them both, and then I had the honor of attending their engagement party in March, and now they're married. Congrats Ryan and Kelsi, I couldn't be happier for you and your new life together!

Micah & Robert { Engaged }

Little Micah's all grown up! Okay, I haven't known her since she was super little, but she still doesn't seem old enough to get married. Micah and I met when we started going to NewSpring Church 5 years ago. Her extended family makes up about half of the church. :) And her brother Scott is one of Adam and my closest friends. I was honored when Micah asked me to be her wedding photographer, and so excited when she told me they are planning an outdoor wedding at their home in the country. I'm so glad she found such a great guy like Robert to marry and can't wait for the wedding!

Rob & Tamika { Proposal }

Right before I left to have Sutton, I had the pleasure of secretly photographing a proposal at Botanica. How does a 9-month pregnant lady "secretly" photograph anything, you might wonder. Not easily.

Rob came to me in May and wanted to make an album of photos to surprise his girlfriend-turned-fiance with while he was deployed in Iraq. We plotted and schemed the best way to keep everything hush hush.

I arrived at Botanica before they did, and brought Adam with me as a decoy. We posed as a couple on a date taking photos of all the beautiful flowers. Once Rob and Tamika arrived, I put on my super telephoto lens, and started following them, keeping a safe distance. I didn't know exactly how or where the proposal would take place, so we scrambled to keep them in our sights at all times. At one point, they were walking towards us and Tamika even said a friendly hello. Little did she know...

I was able to snap the photos of the actual proposal through a trellis so that Tamika still wouldn't catch on. After she said YES and they hugged and kissed, they left. We waited to see them walk out the front doors so we could leave without detection. We waited. And waited. They weren't leaving, and all of a sudden, they came back into the gardens, and Rob walked right up to me! Que MAJOR acting on Rob and my parts:

Rob: "Excuse me, miss?"
Gina, panicking: "Uh, yes?"
Rob: "We noticed you had a camera, and we just got engaged, so we wanted to know if you could take our picture?"
Tamika, acting extremely embarrassed in the background : "I'm so sorry to bother you!"
Gina: "No, no! I'd LOVE to. Congratulations, that's so exciting!!"

So we walked over to where he'd proposed and I took a couple photos. I had to act like an amateur, so I even counted 1, 2, 3 before I took the photos, haha!

Ginger helped me design an album since I was busy having a baby, and while I don't normally do this, I thought I'd post the entire album for your viewing pleasure! (And props to Ginger for her mad design skills!)

Fast forward a couple weeks...Rob tells Tamika he needs her to run an errand for him. She comes in, is handed the book, and once she finally catches on, she exclaims, "That pregnant lady works here?!" Lindsey even got a video of her reaction so we could send it to Rob in Iraq!

Look at My Cute Family!

Okay, not MY family, but my family. This is my sister-in-law Jessica, her hubby Steve, and their three kiddos. Jess is the editor of a magazine that we take photos for, and since this September marks she and Steve's TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY (congrats!), we took a few quick photos for an article in the mag. Katie & Micah { Wedding }

What an exciting, beautiful, joy-filled day. It's really hard to describe how amazing Katie and Micah's love story and wedding were. They dated 7 years ago in college and just recently found their way back to each other, were engaged, and married on Saturday. I've never seen a bride as excited to be a wife as Katie was. Her out of control arms, wiggle dancing, and crazy facial expressions were so fun for photos.

Katie's one of those people that I have a bunch of crazy connections to. She went to high school with my hubby, and they were good friends. When I moved up to Manhattan to go to K-State, I didn't know many people, and so Katie (who was two years older) took me under her wing and helped me get involved in Christian Challenge. Our studio manager Ginger is one of Katie's best friends, and as you'll see, was a bridesmaid in the wedding. Katie is also friends with Lindsey through other mutual friends. Craziness. Knowing Katie through the years made her union with Micah just that much sweeter!

Hello everyone! After 7 glorious weeks off with my amazing baby, today is my first official day back at the studio. Maternity leave was wonderful and I have a beautiful baby boy to show for it. See?

But I'm also really excited to be back and eager to start in on editing and album designing. I must ask you to bear with me during this transition period. I will be in the studio only two days a week - Tuesday and Thursday. As we get used to this new schedule, please be patient, and I will be getting your awesome photos to you as soon as possible.

Adam and I shot an amazing wedding this weekend that I will be blogging later today, so stay tuned. It's good to be back! :)

Baylee's session made me tired. Not because of shooting in the heat - we actually had a pretty nice day. Baylee is involved in so many sports that it made me exhausted to think about being her! Jaclyn was my amazing second shooter and we had a great time shooting the couple's portraits at West Lake right before the reception. We had some awesome light to work with there...I'd like to explore there another time! Amber and Derek were so excited to be married, it was an honor to be a part of their day. Sutton Grey Dreher

was born yesterday June 24th at 6:35pm. He weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and was 21 inches long. We're both doing great, and Sutton loves his daddy! Photos to come...

Off to Become a Mom!

Well folks, I'm officially outta here. My maternity leave begins this afternoon and I'm so excited! The baby could come at any time, but we scheduled an induction for a week from today (June 24th) in case he wants to stay put. (FYI...scheduling the induction was a hard decision - I'd prefer things happen on their own. But since he's so huge already according to the growth ultrasound, and since I have to shoot two weddings in July, we decided this was best!)

I'm sure I will post photos as soon as I'm able, so check back to see just how cute this little boy is and to find out his awesome name. :)

Jenna & Brad { Wedding }

Saturday afternoon, Jenna and Brad were married at Westside Baptist in Hutchinson. Justin and I had the pleasure of shooting their wedding, and I haven't even waded through his photos yet, so this is a rare occurrence - a wedding blog post with only my photos! You probably won't even know the difference. :)

Jenna was a very laid back bride and we lucked out with the rain...it poured, but only during the ceremony (which was inside). Before the ceremony, we were able to go to Dillon Nature Center where we found an awesome field of wildflowers, and after the ceremony, we went downtown and got some great stuff with the help of the amazing cloud cover. The love between these two was so evident, as was their love for God, which was a huge part of their ceremony. It was the coolest thing. They also have amazing friends who gave some awesome toasts at the reception and danced in during their entrance.

This was our last wedding before I become a mama, and I couldn't have asked for a better couple to send me out in style. Congratulations Jenna and Brad - you're married!! :) Here's the sneak peek!

Three Years

My friend Audra called me up to go baby shopping today, and while we were out, she reminded me that today is her third anniversary with her hubby, Justin. Happy Anniversary Audra and Justin!

I'm blogging about this because Audra and Justin were also my very first wedding to shoot on my own! So as of today, I've been a wedding photographer for three years (not counting the two years before that when I was a second shooter at weddings). In honor of our collective three year anniversary, here are some photos from their big day.

I also need to mention that you all owe a big thanks to Audra (I do too!), because before she convinced me to photograph her wedding, I had sworn I wouldn't do weddings. Where would I be today without her?

Nicole & Cole { Wedding }

Nicole and Cole were married this past (super hot) Saturday at the beautiful East Heights United Methodist Church. Lindsey and I LOVED photographing this beautiful couple...they were so laid back and we had plenty of time for photos. After their ceremony, we headed over to Riverside Park where they endured each other's sweaty faces and kissed for the camera! Then we headed downtown for a few more photos and their reception at the Hotel at Old Town, which was perfect. And it was early enough in the day that we had some amazing light streaming in the windows, making our job easy. I love how their photos turned out, and I loved working with this couple. Congrats Nicole and Cole, have an absolutely fantastic time on your honeymoon cruise!

Jen & Michael { Engagements }

Meet the nicest couple EVER. Jen and Michael were such a fun couple to spend the afternoon with last Thursday. Turns out, we have a ton of mutual friends too! Small world. We battled the rain throughout our entire session, but we made it work and got some great photos! And since their wedding is in January (in Illinois....so sad I won't be photographing it!), maybe it'll snow on their wedding day. Then they'll have quite the story. :) Here are some of the faves from our rainy engagement session.

Stephanie + Cole { Engagements }

Whew! Yesterday was a hot one! Amid our buckets of sweat, I managed to have an amazing engagement session with Steph and Cole. Steph was super worried about their photos because (as she put it) she and Cole are not "models" but HOLY COW they looked awesome. After a couple shots downtown, we headed over to a park for some softer-feeling photos. Steph trekked through thigh-high weeds in heels and loved it. And Cole was the perfect accessory. I also found out these two go to my church! Small world. Alright Steph...are you ready for this? Deep breaths, they turned out great. :)

Jeanette & Daniel { Wedding }

Through the crazy wind and heat, Jaclyn and I photographed Jeanette and Daniel's amazing wedding on Saturday. The wedding was out at Cowtown, which I've decided is the perfect venue for a wedding. We had so many wonderful photo ops, we didn't even get around to all of them. Jeanette got dressed in an old schoolhouse that was so fun, and she was very adamant that she wanted to stray from the traditional for everything. I was more than happy to oblige. After the ceremony in the quaint church, we took time for a few sunset photos before we started the dance. Here are the many faves!

Inquiring minds want to know: Gina...what will your schedule be after the baby's here?

Well ladies and gentlemen, it's just been decided. I will be working all day Tuesdays and Thursdays at the studio beginning August 17th. That means I will only be taking appointments and sessions during those days, so please help me out and plan ahead. Thanks!

Also, I've extended my maternity leave, so the new dates are June 18 through August 16. This will probably change depending on when the little man decides to actually come, but I just wanted to cover all my bases.

And I can't believe it! Avery is Ginger's (and Joe's!) daughter, so she's one of our mascots here at the studio. You may remember that I posted pictures when she was born and then again when we did her newborn photos. This year has gone so fast! I just love her to pieces, she has the cutest little personality and she's saying a lot of words now. It was fun photographing a baby I knew because she would walk right up to me and want me to hold her. So cute. Here are a few faves to tide you over, Ginger!

Ashlee & Grady { Wedding }

Ashlee and Grady are finally married! They've been together since junior high, I believe, and on Saturday, they finally became husband and wife. Their wedding was in Hesston, which has lots of beautiful places for photos...I always love going there. The rain held off for the most part, and provided us with some amazing cloud cover for their photos. After the ceremony, we made a quick stop at the golf course (since Grady is an avid golfer), and then went on to the reception where we were able to spend a bunch of time with the couple for some awesome shots. Thanks for being so laid back and easy-going, you two. Have fun in Vegas!

Chelsie & Adam { Album }

The other album we got is Chelsie and Adam's album. Chelsie used her artistic prowess to create this one-of-a-kind album with black leather and a brushed champagne stripe down the middle. It totally fits the feel of their wedding and their personalities! You may recognize this couple...theirs is the wedding that is featured in our sample Storybook album here in the studio.

Colston { Newborn & Family }

OhmygoodnessIcould'vejusteatenColstonuphewassocuteandsquishy. :) This was the perfect newborn session for a mom-to-be of a little boy...it just made it so hard for me to wait for mine! Colston is actually 6 weeks old, and he was so content and sleepy. His big sister Bailey is actually my niece (isn't she BEAUTIFUL?), and she has fallen into the role of big sis so effortlessly! It was a little hot yesterday, and we did a lot of walking, but got some great photos from it...totally worth it. Special thanks to Meighan and Wes for keeping Colston happy and being awesome! Here are some faves!

ALBUM DEADLINE

How is everybody loving this spring weather? Eh? Eh?

Anyway...just wanted to let you know that in order to get your album design process started before my maternity leave, your album must be ordered before Tuesday, May 18th.

The fine print is that this doesn't guarantee you will have your album before I leave, as they take several weeks to print, but we will at least have some designs for you to look at before I leave.

Keep in mind:
*If there was an album included in your wedding photography package, all you need to do to order your album is send me your list of favorites.
*If you're a senior, family, baby, etc., then you must send me the list of favorites as well as choose your type of album and make a payment on it.

Maddie & Collin { Engagements :: Part 2 }

Yesterday was BEAUTIFUL. I spent the early afternoon at Botanica with Maddie and Collin. We took a few photos back in December for their save-the-dates, but wanted to finish up their session in the spring. They are the sweetest couple! They kept telling me how good (i.e. not fat) I looked, so of course we're now BFFs. Theirs is the first wedding after I come back from leave this summer, and I couldn't think of a better couple for my first wedding back!

Justin { Senior }

Yesterday I had a super fun senior session with Justin. I was so glad I didn't have a girl because the wind was gusting up to 54 mph! It was ridiculous. After a few downtown locations, Justin and I headed out to his house that's on a private lake. We took his awesome dog Baron (who is now my BFF) and went exploring in the woods before ending our session in the lake and on his boat. Baron chose to sit on my lap in the truck, which was fine by me, but I sure got a sniff-down from my own pups when I got home. I also found it absolutely hilarious that Boxers and Dobermans (which is what I'm used to) have exact opposite noses. Weird.

Enough about the dogs...Justin was pretty darn cool too. And laid back, which made for an easy shoot! Here are some of my faves.

Eli { One Year }

I wanted to title this post "The Many Faces of Eli" but then I ran out of time to edit/blog all his crazy faces. This kid has a giant stash of hilariousness...but he wasn't too fond of having his picture taken. Friday afternoon, through all the crazy wind, Julia, her entourage, and I set out to take her senior photos. The entourage consisted of both parents, her best friend, and two adorable little puppies. Katelyn had the CUTEST prom dress. And a pretty great smile. She and I and her mom traipsed all over Wichita yesterday in the sunshine and got some awesome photos of both of those things! I told her multiple times that the poses I was going to put her in would make her feel pretty dumb, but she just had to trust me, and she did! It was totally worth it, don't you think Katelyn? Thanks for a great afternoon, good luck at Pitt State next year.

YES! It's my outta control baby belly! Just thought I'd give all of you who aren't my facebook friends and haven't seen me for awhile a little update on how large I'm looking these days. I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind you of my maternity leave, which will be June 18 through July 22. I will be out of the office completely, so that means no album designing, editing, or answering phone calls. PLEASE PLEASE let me know before June 18 if you need anything. Also, as I'm beginning to be less mobile, I'd prefer (and I think you would too) that if you need engagements or other portraits done, you schedule them for early-mid May.

Tara & Chad { Wedding }

Adam and I had the immense pleasure of photographing Tara and Chad's wedding in Moundridge on Saturday. Everything about the day was perfect. We had perfect weather, a beautiful couple (who is

TOTALLY in love!), and pretty backdrops - spring is a great season for a wedding. After their first meeting and outdoor family formals, we headed to a park where we had bunches of time for photos of the couple and their wedding party (the girls wore amazing J.Crew dresses...I wanted to steal one). I also loved that Chad was all about photos. He could've posed for me all day...which is usually not the case with grooms. If I ever need a couple to model for something, I know who to call.

Kelsi & Ryan :: Take 2 { Engagements }

I'm in love with these pictures!!!! You might remember that I took the first part of Kelsi and Ryan's engagements last week (click here for that post), but then we were rained/hailed out, so we had to reschedule the last part. I'm so glad we did! We had perfect light and perfect temps last night. I had this idea for a vintage-inspired shoot in a forest, and after explaining my idea to Kelsi, she just ran with it. She bought an amazing dress, and found Ryan a skinny tie. They even brought balloons! And the quilt we used was made for me by my Grandma. :) Here are just a few from our awesome shoot last night!

Daniela { Senior }

Holy windiness. Daniela (don't you LOVE her name?!) and I were finally able to get some senior pictures taken yesterday after rescheduling THREE times due to wind. It was still pretty windy, but we made it happen anyway. Daniela goes to Andover and will be attending KU next year. Since I'd recently had a campus visit there, we discussed the beautiful campus and her dreams of being a pre-med student. Smartie pants. Enjoy a sneak peek!
