Go Go GO Wireless!

This morning, I photographed the lovely ladies of Go Wireless so that they can update their website and make new business cards. After we got the necessities out of the way, they had a little fun with their "shoot." Get it? :)

Kara & Drew's First Dance

I just discovered the existence of this awesome video showing the first dance at Kara and Drew's wedding. Maybe you can get a taste of how fun they were to work with!

Katelyn + Jared

Saturday afternoon, Katelyn and Jared were married in Hesston. The weather was great - we had clouds all day which made the lighting for the outdoor photos perfect. I was also amazed by how well we were able to stick to our schedule. We had just the right amount of time for everything, which made me happy and stress-free! :) All the photos were finished before the ceremony, but we snuck the couple out for a few more during the reception. Katelyn and Jared were so easy to work with and were willing to do whatever I asked. All in all, a perfect wedding.

Thanks for including me in your day, Katelyn & Jared. Have fun settling in your new house and also in Jamaica next week!

Ashley & Janessa

Ashley called me up a few months ago with a great idea. She wanted to have a fun photo shoot with her and her best friend Janessa (whose senior pictures I took awhile back, you might remember). We set out to several different places downtown to document these beautiful ladies. There was lots of laughing and candy involved. Here are a few of my favorites from last night.

Allison & Aaron

Saturday started out unseasonably cool, which was great! We also had great cloud cover...up until we started photos outside, then of course the sun came out. We rolled with it and Lindsey and I got some great stuff at Allison and Aaron's wedding in Andover. Allison looked absolutely gorgeous in her Christina Wu dress, and Aaron treated us like old friends the whole day. Their ceremony was very emotional and the priest incorporated the story of them meeting in 7th grade into the homily. After a quick photo session outside the church, it was on to dinner and dancing at the Ville. Here are some favorites from their day.

Yellowstone, Part 1

I've been working on Yellowstone photos in my spare time at home, here are a few from our first couple days there.

Driving...had to document this, since that's what we did for the majority of the time. We drove 2600 miles total, and went through 5 states, two national parks, Mt. Rushmore, and the Badlands.

The first night, we stayed in a hotel in Casper, Wyoming, not much to document there. The second day, we drove up to Jackson and took a gondola up to the top of a mountain in the Tetons. Jackson Hole seemed like it would a fun place to ski in the winter, we may have to go back some time for that.

That night we stayed in a little cabin that was super cute. I tried to get Adam to take a nice picture with me on the porch... it didn't go so well. And the couch in our cabin was the same one that my parents have at their house! Felt right at home... :)

That evening, we went to downtown Jackson to walk around and eat dinner. There was some interesting stuff...

The next morning we got up and drove into Yellowstone. Yellowstone is a close runner-up to Hawaii for the most beautiful place I've ever been. I expected there to be like 3 or 4 main things to see, but there was crazy stuff everywhere you looked - canyons, waterfalls, geysers, wildlife. On our way to Old Faithful, we stopped to see this waterfall. The photo on the top left shows the "trail" that we hiked/climbed up and down to get to the bottom of the falls.

Next up was Old Faithful. It was crazy to see in person. It goes off every 90 minutes and there were tons of people waiting to see it. There was another geyser nearby that erupted at about the same time, which was pretty cool. We overheard someone say that the water below ground is about 200 degrees.

There are a bunch of places to hike and things to see around Old Faithful. There were hundreds of mini-geysers and hot springs. We took a 5 mile hike around to see all the stuff, and it was neat because while there were a ton of people there, there were a few times where we were all alone in the wilderness, minus the concrete path we were walking. :) Can you smell the sulphur? Mmmm yummy.

We saw lots of wildlife and even took our picture with a real live bison! This elk or moose or whatever it was, decided to cross the highway about three cars in front of us, and then just calmly walked by our car. I shot this out the window of our car, and I actually am as close to it as it looks. If you click on it to make it bigger, you can see that he's smiling.

And here's a preview of what's still to come in Part 2 of the Yellowstone Saga:

Out of the Office

Once again, just a heads up that I must take a short absence...I will be out of the studio Thursday afternoon and all day Friday for a minor surgery. I apologize, as this will put me another few days behind in getting photos back to you, but I'd appreciate your patience, I promise I'm working hard to get your photos edited! :)

Kara & Drew

After our trip to Yellowstone last week, Adam and I had the pleasure of photographing Kara and Drew's wedding in Hesston. This was quite the adventure. Kara allowed plenty of time for photos in the schedule (thanks, Kara) and so before the ceremony, we ventured out to a baseball field and stopped the game in progress so that we could use the diamond for photos! It was the very field where Drew told Kara he loved her for the first time. After their ceremony that included Instant Messaging, a parents' blessing, and a surprise for Drew, we went to the arboretum for more photos. The wedding party was up for whatever I made them do, which made the photos even better! Then on to the dinner and dance back at the church, where there was another special surprise, as you'll see in the photos.

The very spot of the first "I love you."

As you may have guessed, Drew's a baseball player. There was a lot of bum-slapping going on that day. :)

Kara surprised Drew with a serenade after they were pronounced husband and wife.

During their first dance, the couple all of a sudden broke out into the "Evolution of Dance." They took turns dancing every couple seconds when the music changed. Hilarious.

Kara and Drew - thanks for letting Adam and I share in your day! You're a beautiful couple and made my job easy. Congratulations!

Vacation Time!

After our 4th of July wedding tomorrow, I'm taking almost a whole week off! Adam and I are road trippin it to Yellowstone and he has planned all sorts of adventures for us. I will return all calls and emails when I get back to the studio on Monday, July 13th. Have a great holiday!

Give Me Moore!

Some of you hard-core fans may remember all the way back to the beginning of May, when Lindsey and I took a road trip to Louisiana for a photography workshop with Kelly Moore. Click here to see Kelly's blog post about it. I haven't had any spare time to blog the amazing images I took during the workshop, and while I still don't really have any spare time, I thought these would be good photos to tide you over with before I leave you for a week. :)

We had some amazing models with great outfits. We started out in an old theater and were experimenting with the light setup that Kelly is famous for. We each got a chance to pose the models and use the light how we wanted.

Then we headed outside to experiment with posing and another super cute model.

Then out to a field filled with ticks for more posing and lighting. This couple is married in real life, aren't they so cute?

Nothing like playing in a puddle of mud in a wedding dress.

A few behind-the-scenes shots. Here's Lindsey holding a light for Kelly.

And I got my photo taken with the famous Kelly Moore!! I was so excited. She's probably my favorite photographer, she has so much talent.

My friend Kelly and I with that weirdo, Lindsey. Haha.

Kelly took this photo of Lindsey and I on the steps of the Cottage - the amazing little bed and breakfast where we had the workshop.

Ott Family

I love the Ott family! They're some of my best clients and since Grandma and Grandpa and cousins were in town yesterday, we set up a session to get some shots of them all together. We headed over to Eastborough Park, which was hopping with photographers, and tried to avoid all the presents the geese had left behind. :) These 5 kiddos have the cutest names: Love, Millicent, Brooks, Evin, and Ella Blue. So fun! It was cute to see all the cousins chasing the geese and asking me if we were finished yet - after just 15 minutes. Millicent told me she liked my camera because it didn't flash and didn't make her blink. I like that about it too. We got quite a lot of good photos in our short session. Thanks for yet another great evening, Otts!

The newest Ott: Ella Blue.
